CeBIT 2008 Over

As of June 2011, I am no longer employed by AussieHQ. This post is for reference only. As some of you may know, I have spent the last week in Sydney at CeBIT, one of the world’s largest IT exhibitions. CeBIT 2008 was the 7th CeBIT which marks the 7th time that I have attended and the 2nd time the

Night on the town

My friend Justin and I spent a wonderful night in Sydney on Saturday. When we arrived in the city around 6:30, we went up to the Orbit Bar on the 47th floor of the Australia Square building in Sydney. This bar has splendid views of the city and usually has equally splendid service. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case on Saturday

New Journal Software

Since I relaunched this journal earlier in the year, it has been hosted in my home office on an Internode ADSL connection using DominoBlog. Unfortunately my outgoing bandwidth is only 256kbps, which is not enough for a fast, reliable web site and as Domino hosting isn’t too common I’ve had to switch over to WordPress and move the journal back

Behind the scenes, Asterisk does an enum lookup. If there’s an enum entry, the call is placed over IP. If the call fails, or these’s

Finally on 512MB RAM

I went down to my local computer store today – Zip Computers and bought another stick of RAM (Kingston 512MB, PC3200, 400MHz, AU$109). Same type that I bought in Sydney, but a different brand. Opened up the Mac, popped it in and heard the wonderful Mac bootup sound. It works perfectly. I haven’t had a chance to go back into

Ordered a MIDI USB keyboard today

I’ve spent a bit of time messing around with Garageband in the stores (before I bought my Mac). David Jones in Sydney has a machine setup with a MIDI USB keyboard where one can use Garageband, etc. Since I bought my Mac (which came with iLife ‘05), I’ve been wanting to use Garageband. So.. I just ordered an M-Audio 49E
