First ride of 2020

One of my favourite things to do to clear my head is go on an early morning motorbike ride.

Today I woke up at 5:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep.

Knowing that it was going to be 40+ degrees today, I decided to jump in the shower and head out on the bike before it got too hot. I hadn’t been riding for a few weeks as I was overseas for Christmas so I was definitely itching to get back on the bike.

The first stop was at Balmoral Beach at about 6:20am. I pulled up a perch by the water, enjoyed the rest of the sunrise, and read my Kindle for a bit.

Once it turned 7am, I popped into The Boathouse Balmoral Beach for a delicious breakfast of smoked salmon fritters and poached eggs.

With some food in my belly I hopped back on the bike, and headed up to the Northern Beaches. I made it up to Newport but the temperature was climbing rapidly (over 30 degrees and it was still before 9am) so I turned around and headed back towards home.

Wakehurst Parkway always seems to be about 10 degrees cooler than the rest of Sydney, so I took that road all the way down to Seaforth, and then took Spit Road and then Military Road back home to North Sydney.

It was definitely a great way to bring in the New Year, and I’m looking forward to a lot of rides in 2020!
